PYP 1 - 5

Learning is about being curious, asking questions and finding the answers that lead to further questions. Here at NJIS, our teachers nurture a child’s natural curiosity and help them to develop into life-long learners. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) teaches students how to think for themselves and take responsibility for their own learning through an inquiry-led approach.

By learning through inquiry, PYP students develop knowledge, conceptual understandings, skills and attributes of the IB learner profile to make a difference in their own lives, their communities and beyond. NJIS teachers are well-versed in educational best practices and are helping to prepare students to respond to the challenges and opportunities in our rapidly changing world.

Action, the core of student agency, is integral to the PYP learning process and to the programme’s overarching outcome of international mindedness. For our students to make a difference in the world, we help to personalize the action they take, with the understanding that it is not just a mandate from teachers and parents, but a lifelong mindset they develop. Taking action happens at all levels across the PYP. With the support of the NJIS community, our students are able to begin their journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!
