Thank you for your interest in North Jakarta International School.
We generally hire single teachers willing to share housing or teaching couples. We do not hire teachers with a non-teaching spouse, and we prefer teaching couples with no dependent children (although we can sometimes accommodate teachers' children who are of an age to attend our school). We do occasionally hire candidates right out of university in some areas -- music, P.E., art, computer studies, ESL, foreign language -- but for self-contained classroom positions we require two years' experience in the classroom. Because of our curriculum and student population, we hire teachers with university credentials and relevant classroom experience from North America, the United Kingdom, Australasia, or South Africa.
NJIS does most of its hiring through The International Educator and Search Associates. We begin reviewing expressions of interest in November each year. We will interview and hire appropriate candidates by Skype or Messenger prior to the start of the U.S. based recruiting fairs once the openings have been confirmed.
