Yesterday was our Code and STEM day at NJIS. Students from across the school engaged in solving real-world STEM challenges using coding, robotics, science, engineering, and mathematics. At NJIS, our mission is to equip students with "the 21st century skills and knowledge needed to find new solutions for our world".
In order for us to live our mission as a school, we need to take every opportunity to go further than just numeracy and literacy, and provide students the opportunity to engage with technology and code. We can't just raise students to be passive consumers of ihnternet content and users of technology. They need to be creators and coders, bringing new ideas to reality using the design process.
